At Solo, we take pride in highlighting the remarkable individuals who form our vibrant gig worker and content creator community. Our “Friends of Solo” series celebrates the unique journeys of those who seamlessly juggle gig work, personal goals, and creative passions, while inspiring others along the way.

This week, we’re thrilled to feature Luis Berti from DeliveryTV, a gig worker, videographer, and content creator who has carved out a unique space in the gig economy by sharing his experiences and learnings with the Spanish-speaking community.

From Videographer to Gig Worker: Exploring New Paths

Luis’s journey into gig work started five years ago, during a time when his videography business wasn’t generating enough income. A friend suggested that he try gig work as a way to supplement his earnings, and that advice changed everything.

“Five years ago, after a friend suggested it to me as a way to generate extra income since my videography business wasn’t making enough money for me,” Luis recalls.

This recommendation opened the door to a new world where he could maintain flexibility while still supporting his creative passion.

Luis’s Advice for Gig Workers? Diversify App Use

One of the most valuable pieces of advice Luis offers to those just starting in the gig economy is to avoid relying solely on one app.

“Not relying entirely on one app, having multiple sources of income. Apps are a part-time job,” Luis emphasizes. This strategic approach of using multiple apps has helped him create a more stable income stream and navigate the unpredictable nature of gig work.

Solo can help gig workers do just that–maximize their earnings by getting realtime information and data about how much they can expect to earn during a shift working different apps. Work-Life Balance: Optimizing Time on the Road

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential, and for Luis, it’s all about knowing when to be out working and when to step away. By understanding the peak hours of gig work, he optimizes his time and ensures he’s not wasting energy during less productive periods.

“I know very well when I should be out on the street and when [not to be], which allows me to optimize my time,” Luis explains. This strategic scheduling gives Luis more freedom to focus on content creation and other projects outside of gig work.

A Creator at Heart: Luis’s Inspiration for DeliveryTV

Luis’s decision to start creating content stemmed from his background in videography and his desire to help others. While researching gig work on YouTube, he realized there was a gap—most of the content was in English, leaving Spanish-speaking gig workers without resources.

Luis decided to fill that void by creating DeliveryTV, a YouTube channel and brand where he shares his gig work experiences, tips, and advice in Spanish. His Youtube community has over 83,000 subscribers and it’s continually growing! Plus, Luis is also posting videos regularly on TikTok to an audience of over 115,000 followers who all get value from his engaging content.

“I’m a videographer, and I’ve always experimented with YouTube channels. To learn about gig work, I searched on YouTube and discovered great creators, but everything was in English. So I decided to start a channel in Spanish where I could share my learnings.”

Now, his channel (DeliveryTV on YouTube and TikTok) is reaching new heights by sharing relevant gig economy content with his Spanish-speaking community!

Memorable Moments on the Job: More Than Just Deliveries

One of Luis’s favorite memories while working was when a customer gave him an unexpected tip—a bottle of perfume for his wife. This thoughtful gesture stuck with him and highlighted the meaningful interactions he’s experienced during his time as a gig worker.

Beyond these interactions, Luis also values the personal time he gets during deliveries. “Going out for delivery connects me with good music and audiobooks. I turn my car into a university,” he shares.

Why Solo is a Game Changer for Luis

Luis finds the Solo app incredibly useful for his work, particularly the mileage tracker

“The mileage tracker seems super useful to me,” he says. Solo provides him with the tools to stay organized, helping him optimize both his gig work and his content creation efforts.

A Fun Fact About Luis

While Luis spends much of his time in front of the camera, there’s something most people wouldn’t guess about him—he’s naturally shy and prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

“I’m really shy; I don’t like being the center of attention. In public, I try to go unnoticed. It’s funny because my life unfolds in front of the camera,” Luis confesses.

This contrast between his online persona and his real-life personality adds an interesting layer to his story. Stay connected with Luis on YouTube, TikTok, and his website!

Luis’s Must-Have Gear and Favorites

When it comes to essential gear for gig work, Luis swears by a few key items: a flashlight, a hotbag, and Solo’s mileage tracker

These tools keep him efficient and prepared, no matter what the job throws his way.

Additionally, music is a key part about staying focused while driving and taking jobs in the gig economy. Unlike many gig workers who prefer high-energy tracks, Luis favors more mellow tunes to keep him focused.

“I’m more into ballads and chill-out music; any lofi or REIK album suits me well,” he says, adding that he also enjoys music from the band PREP when he’s out on the road.

Staying Motivated During Slow Weeks

Motivation can be tough during slow weeks, but Luis stays on track by diversifying his work. With two YouTube channels and several social media platforms to manage, he’s always busy creating quality content.

“I do many things; I have two YouTube channels and different social media platforms. When I’m not in my car, I’m working on creating quality content,” he shares.
